CHECK IN


Once you arrive at TRIBE!

Check in with our Front of House.

You can also check your bag number, how many classes you have left or if you have to pay.

We'll provide you with everything you need, just grab a towel and a pair of wraps and you're good to go!

*Reminder that first-timers have to arrive at the studio 10-15 minutes before the commencement of the class so that they get to do an induction session with the instructor of the class.

WRAP UP

always wrap up before a class!

We highly encourage wrapping your hands before you do any form of boxing - it will help prevent any injuries to your wrists and knuckles.

Our lovely Front of House can help wrap your hands for you! Just ask them for some help at our front desk.

GLOVES ON

grab your gloves!

You'll find our gloves on our rack right next to the Rave Cave. We offer a choice between 12oz and 14oz gloves.

Additionally, we offer a variety of gloves in other sizes (from 8oz to 14oz) in many styles and colours, if you're looking for that perfect fit or if you just want to stand out.

THE

MOVES

All you need to know before your TRIBE Class

Your TRIBE Instructor wil give you a breakdown of all the moves before the start of your class. Though if you're looking for a headstart, you've come to the right place.

Start off by mastering the 6 punches, then add on the defensive moves to truly become a master of the TRIBE Class.

THE STANCE

  • Drop your dominant leg to the back.
  • Stand with legs shoulder-width apart.
  • Keep your fists around your face, elbows close to your body - this is your guard.
  • Keep your arms up and never drop your guard at any point.
  • Nice and light your shoulders with knees slightly bent.
 

JAB + CROSS

JAB:

  • Extend your front arm straight and aim for the face
  • Palms facing down and knuckles flat
  • Throw a straight punch and snap your arm back to stance position

CROSS:

  • Twist your hips towards the bag and pivot back foot
  • Extend back arm forward and aim for the face
  • Bring arm back and twist hips back to stance position, guard up
 

HOOKS

  • Step in close to the bag
  • Bring your elbow up and keep it at 90° - never extend your arm at any point
  • Have your palm facing down or towards you, whatever is comfortable
  • Aim for the side of the chin/side of the bag at face level
  • Twist your hips and pivot your foot towards the bag
  • Pivot your front foot for a front hook, and back foot with a back hook
  • Bring arm, hips and foot back to stance position after the punch
 

BODY SHOTS

  • Step in close to the bag
  • Keep your elbow at 90° with your palm facing up and towards you
  • Aim towards the ribcage/middle height of the bag
  • Punch into the bag, and don't skim your punch upwards against the bag
  • Keep elbows close to your body
  • Twist your hips and pivot your foot towards the bag
  • Pivot your front foot for a front body shot, and back foot for a back body shot
  • Bring arm, hips and foot back to stance position after the punch
 

SLIPS + DUCKS

SLIPS:

  • Drop your shoulder from the side, downwards towards the middle of your body
  • Let your head follow your shoulders, but keep your eyes on the bag
  • Keep your core tight and guard up to protect your face and torso

DUCKS:

  • Bend your knees, do a semi squat, and bring your shoulders down
  • When going down and up, draw out an imaginary "U" shape
  • Maintain your guard throughout the entire movement
  • Stay light on your feet at all times
 

COUNTER PUNCHING

AFTER SLIPS:

  • Perform a slip, dropping your front or back shoulder
  • Whilst returning back to your stance, execute a counter punch at the same time
  • Use the opposite side (which wasn't dropped) to execute your counter punch
  • If you dropped your front shoulder, punch with your back arm, and vice versa

AFTER DUCKS:

  • Perform a duck, dropping towards or away from the bag
  • Whilst returning back up to your stance, execture a counter puch at the same time
  • Use the arm on the same side as the direction of your duck
  • If you ducked forward, use your front arm; if you ducked backwards, use your back arm.
